As a black woman, since I was a very young girl I learned one thing very early on: There was something wrong with my hair. I remember being 11 years old and for the first time I got my hair pressed. For those of you who are not familiar with pressed hair, it is when a hot iron comb is placed on fire and passed through the hair to make it straight and silky. The hot comb was invented my Madam C.J. Walker in 1905. A hot comb was supposedly necessary for black women to make their hair straighter and more appealing to the eye. I remember that day when I got my hair pressed. For some reason, I felt more beautiful when I saw my hair swing, when I saw the way it moved. There are myriads of hair color treatments to choose from and in just about any color. All natural hair color treatments are gaining popularity in that they don't have harsh chemicals in them that can sting and make your hair lose some of its natural beauty when it is colored.
All natural hair color generally means that there are many more botanical ingredients than normal hair dyes. Some products, unfortunately, will still have peroxide and ammonia in permanent hair dyes because those are the two chemicals that make hair dyes work.

Here is a quick review of how to pick a hair color for you. When dyeing your hair you have to consider the following two issues: Eye colour and: Skin tone. Read on for the basic guidelines to determine if you are in the warm or cool category.
If you are in the warm category your eyes will be golden brown, green, green blue or turquoise, hazel with gold or brown flecks. Your skin tone would fall into one of the following areas brown with pink undertones, brown with golden undertones, pale with peach or gold undertones, freckled or ruddy.
The best colors for your hair if you are in the warm category would be as follows; dark, warm browns, chestnuts, rich golden browns and auburn, warm gold and red highlights, and golden blond tones. For highlights go with golden blondes, copper streaks, golden brown.
